Thirlmere Tweed
Inspired by the deep still waters of Thirlmere reservoir, this tweed echoes the quiet power of a landscape shaped by both nature and necessity. Once a string of natural lakes, Thirlmere was transformed in the Victorian era to supply water to the growing city of Manchester — a connection between mountain and metropolis that still flows today.
The design, originally developed for a throw, has been carefully refined to suit a range of uses while preserving its sense of place. Also available in a classic herringbone weave.
A robust, characterful tweed with subtle depth — perfect for tailoring, upholstery, or projects that honour heritage with a contemporary edge.
Designed by Curlew Fabric Design and woven in the North West of England, this cloth is made from 100% British wool — renewable, biodegradable, and recyclable. A true reflection of place, craft, and care.
Sold by the metre. 150cm wide.
