The story behind the cloth
Duddon,in every thread.
Inspired by the remains of Viking longhouses discovered through archaeological excavations in the Duddon Valley, our Duddon tweed celebrates the rich Norse heritage of this beautiful corner of the Lake District.
The valley's history of settlement and craftsmanship is reflected in a design that draws on the structure and geometry of these ancient buildings, connecting the cloth to a landscape shaped by generations of people who have lived and worked there.
Originally developed as a woven throw, the pattern has been refined and simplified by Curlew Fabric Design to create a versatile tweed that retains the character of the original. It is also available in a timeless herringbone weave.
Made from 100% British wool, our Duddon tweed is naturally durable, breathable and flame resistant. Tested to 30,000 Martindale rubs, it is a versatile fabric for clothing, upholstery, soft furnishings and accessories.
From fleece to finished cloth, every stage of processing takes place within 100 miles of the farm, supporting British farmers and our regional textile industry.
Designed by Curlew Fabric Design and woven in the North West of England.
