The story behind the cloth
Haweswater,in every thread.
Inspired by the restoration of rivers in the Haweswater Valley, our Haweswater tweed celebrates a landscape where nature recovery and sustainable upland farming work hand in hand.
As part of the Wild Haweswater project, sections of river have been returned to more natural, winding courses, helping to slow the flow of water, reduce flood risk and create richer habitats for wildlife.
The original throw design was created by the Lancs & Lakes Guild of Spinners, Weavers and Dyers, taking inspiration from the curves and movement of the restored rivers. Curlew Fabric Design has refined and simplified the pattern for tweed, retaining the flowing lines of the original. It is also available in a timeless herringbone weave.
The wool comes from North Country Cheviot sheep at Naddle Farm, part of the Wild Haweswater project. Their fleece creates a durable, characterful tweed that connects the cloth to the landscape and the people caring for it.
Made from 100% British wool, our Haweswater tweed is naturally durable, breathable and flame resistant. Tested to 30,000 Martindale rubs, it is a versatile fabric for clothing, upholstery, soft furnishings and accessories.
From fleece to finished cloth, every stage of processing takes place within 100 miles of the farm, supporting British farmers and our regional textile industry.
Designed by Curlew Fabric Design and woven in the North West of England.
