Caring for your Lake District Tweed

Our tweeds are made from 100% British wool, grown on Lake District farms and woven into textiles designed to be enjoyed for years to come.

Wool is a remarkable natural fibre. Naturally breathable, resilient and resistant to odours, it needs surprisingly little washing to stay fresh.

Everyday care

We recommend airing your wool textiles regularly rather than washing them unnecessarily. A gentle brush can help remove surface dust and keep the fabric looking its best.

Cleaning

For our tweed throws and woven fabrics, we recommend professional dry cleaning unless the individual product's care label states otherwise.

Spot cleaning may be suitable for minor marks, but avoid rubbing or saturating the fabric, which can affect the texture and finish.

Storage

Store your wool textiles clean and completely dry, away from prolonged direct sunlight. For longer-term storage, keep them in a breathable fabric bag and take suitable precautions against moths.

A natural material

Small variations in colour, texture and weave are part of the character of natural wool. With a little care, your Lake District Tweed can be enjoyed for many years.
