The story behind the cloth
Borrowdale,in every thread.
Inspired by the colours and textures of the Bowder Stone, a magnificent glacial boulder in the heart of Borrowdale, our Borrowdale tweed reflects the ancient geology and rugged beauty of this Lake District valley.
The design draws on the weathered surfaces and subtle tones of the stone, creating a characterful fabric with a strong connection to the landscape. It is also available in a timeless herringbone weave.
The wool comes from Dancing Gate Farm, where Sue and Kevin Tyson raise flocks of Clun Forest, Kerry Hill, Cheviot and Texel-cross sheep. Blending wool from these different breeds creates a durable yet soft tweed, rich in texture and character.
Made from 100% British wool, our Borrowdale tweed is naturally durable, breathable and flame resistant. Tested to 30,000 Martindale rubs, it is a versatile fabric for clothing, upholstery, soft furnishings and accessories.
From fleece to finished cloth, every stage of processing takes place within 100 miles of the farm, supporting British farmers and our regional textile industry.
Designed by Curlew Fabric Design and woven in the North West of England.
