The story behind the cloth
Langdale,in every thread.
Inspired by the patchwork of green fields, hedgerows and drystone walls of the Langdale Valley, our Langdale throws capture the colours and character of this beautiful Lake District landscape.
The original green-on-green design takes inspiration from an architectural feature of Langdale Youth Hostel, a Victorian mansion once owned by the Benson family, who worked as fullers, finishing cloth for the local textile trade in Kendal. The pattern reflects the geometric shapes of the valley's fields and hedgerows, connecting the landscape with its textile heritage.
Our second Langdale design introduces soft greys inspired by the drystone walls that divide the fields, capturing the view looking down the valley from high on the surrounding fells.
Both throws are woven from 100% Cheviot-cross Herdwick wool sourced from Harry Place Farm in Langdale, where Jonny Benson and his family continue the tradition of upland sheep farming.
From fleece to finished throw, every stage of processing takes place within 100 miles of the farm, supporting British farmers and our regional textile industry.
Made from 100% British wool, our throws are naturally warm, breathable and durable, bringing a little of the Lake District landscape into your home. Designed and made in the North West of England.
