The story behind the cloth
Duddon,in every thread.
Inspired by the remains of Norse longhouses uncovered through archaeological excavations in the Duddon Valley, our Duddon throw celebrates the rich Viking heritage of this beautiful corner of the Lake District.
Dating back to the early 10th century, these ancient settlements offer a glimpse into the lives of those who once lived and farmed in the valley. The design draws on the structure and geometry of the longhouses, connecting the cloth to a landscape shaped by centuries of settlement and craftsmanship.
Created by the Lancs & Lakes Guild of Spinners, Weavers and Dyers, the pattern reflects the simple lines and enduring character of these historic buildings.
The wool comes entirely from the Swaledale flock of Jonno and Lauren Hogarth, who farm in the Duddon Valley. Well suited to life on the rugged fells, Swaledale sheep produce a distinctive, characterful wool that gives the throw its robust texture and natural warmth.
Woven from 100% British wool, our Duddon throw is naturally warm, breathable and durable. Perfect for draping over a bed, adding texture to a favourite chair or bringing a little of the Lake District landscape into your home. Designed and made in the North West of England.
From fleece to finished throw, every stage of processing takes place within 100 miles of the farm, supporting British farmers and our regional textile industry.
