The story behind the cloth
Haweswater,in every thread.
Inspired by the restoration of rivers in the Haweswater Valley, our Haweswater throw celebrates a landscape where nature recovery and sustainable upland farming work hand in hand.
Wild Haweswater, a partnership between the RSPB and United Utilities, is undertaking large-scale ecological restoration across the valley. As part of this work, sections of river that were once straightened have been returned to more natural, winding courses, helping to slow the flow of water, reduce flood risk and create richer habitats for wildlife.
Created by the Lancs & Lakes Guild of Spinners, Weavers and Dyers, the flowing design takes inspiration from the curves and movement of these restored rivers, capturing the changing landscape in woven cloth.
The wool comes from Cheviot sheep raised at Naddle Farm, part of the Wild Haweswater estate. Their fleece gives the throw its distinctive texture, natural warmth and character, connecting the cloth to a farm where conservation and traditional upland farming come together.
Woven from 100% British wool, our Haweswater throw is naturally warm, breathable and durable. Perfect for curling up on the sofa, draping over a bed or bringing a little of the Lake District landscape into your home. Designed and made in the North West of England.
From fleece to finished throw, every stage of processing takes place within 100 miles of the farm, supporting British farmers and our regional textile industry.
